Glacier Grey is on Lago Grey, which is fed from the ice melt from the ice fields in Patagonia, southern Chile. We had an amazing stay at Hotel Lago Grey which overlooks the lake. The staff are world class and made our stay a once in a lifetime experience. The Glacier Grey boat excursions are run by the hotel so staying there is super convenient. I would suggest staying there at least the night before your excursion because the lake is at minimum, a four-and-a-half-hour drive from Punta Arenas, two hours, North of Puerto Natales. Although a variety of transportation options are available through tour companies, I would recommend renting a car so you can take your time and stop along the way to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. The roads far better than we had expected.
