Located in the Black Mountains is this ghost town that once thrived as a gold-mining community. At one time there were 3,500 people living in Oatman. Today, besides the less-than-100 people there, a small tourism industry has exploded with several souvenir stands and shops, as well as two restaurants. The Durlin Hotel (a.k.a. the Oatman Hotel) is arguably the most historic building, as well as other notables (although some have proven to be silly otherwise). Burros, or donkeys, roam around the town, sometimes getting in the way or waiting to be fed by curious travelers. As one would expect, this is a no-miss when traveling Route 66. Plan on spending at least a couple hours there if you plan on sightseeing. Lots to see along a 0.3 mile stretch. Businesses are usually open from dawn to dusk. This was my last Route 66 video for Arizona before making my way to California.
