These are two Silverton H3 19’s that are made by Harmony in Chicago and sold through Sears and roebuck stores throughout the 50s and 60s. These two are from the early 60s and one has been fully remanufactured by the Baxendale conversion process and the other is original with its original crude ladder bracing. This video attempts to demonstrate the different sound between the two designs of bracing. The Baxendale conversion has tuned scalloped bracing. The other one has the original crude, ladder bracing. The ladder braced Guitar has a tone that is all fundamental with very little harmonic overtones, it also has limited headroom. Baxendale conversion Guitar with scalloped X bracing has a much more sophisticated sound with complex overtones especially in the Lo mids and the low end. The Baxendale conversion also has a much higher headroom level meaning that you can dig into the guitar and it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. It doesn’t top out like a hard limiter. This Baxendale conversion is currently available and we have others like it is so if you’re interested, please give us a call or email us. [email protected] 720-251-6996
