In this adventure, I head into the water at Shark Alley for an unforgettable scuba dive surrounded by thousands of playful Cape fur seals. From curious close encounters to majestic kelp forests, this dive was pure ocean magic. Along the way, we encountered an incredible variety of marine life, including massive Bryde’s whales (often called “Brutus” whales locally), sleek mullet moving in formation, shy cat sharks hunting among the kelp forests, and even the unmistakable presence of orcas patrolling the coastline. Shark Alley, located near Geyser Rock off Gansbaai, is famous for its dense seal population and dramatic underwater action. Diving here is unpredictable, raw, and completely wild, every descent brings something new.
