This video was filmed on Muni Heritage Weekend, September 21, 2025. Cable Car 42 was brought out to run on the California Street cable car line during the Muni Heritage Weekend. This cable car along with Big 19 are the 2 cable cars that only runs during rare occasions as they both represent the cable car lines that are already gone. Since the second and the very last day of Muni Heritage Weekend, this was my first time I rode this cable car on the California Street line between Market Street & Van Ness Avenue. The livery of this cable car represents the old days when double ended cable cars (Like the ones from California Street Cable Car Line) used to run on Hyde Street until Prop E from 1954 scammed the entire public, resulting in the closure of the O’Farrell, Jones, & Hyde Cable Car Line & Washington/Jackson Cable Car Line, merging the 2 to become the Powell/Hyde Line that exists today. The California Street Line is also affected by Prop E itself as it was shortened from Presidio Avenue to Van Ness Avenue.
