While on patrol along Cole Avenue heading westbound towards the Brown Street intersection, an Akron Police officer noticed a Mazda CX9 traveling northbound with excessively dark, illegal tint on the front passenger window. Upon spotting the marked police cruiser, the Mazda quickly turned into a driveway on Brown Street. The officer ran a registration check and found that the vehicle had been involved in a pursuit with Tallmadge P.D. that had ended in Akron on February 5th, 2024. The driver, later identified as Anthony Hall, went upstairs to an apartment balcony and began knocking on a door. Sensing Hall's unease at their presence, the officer parked nearby on Adkins Avenue and requested backup. As the officer approached, Hall revealed he was not a valid driver. When the officer attempted to detain him for the window tint violation, Hall resisted and fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued, during which the officer attempted to use a Taser twice without success. Hall ran northbound on Brown Street, then westbound between buildings, and finally northbound onto Stanton Avenue. There, another officer's car blocked his path, prompting Hall to flee southbound, only to be apprehended by a K9 unit as he attempted to climb a backyard fence. Meanwhile, Thomas Greathouse, the front-seat passenger, was found walking nearby with a bag containing marijuana, sandwich bags, and a digital scale. Hall, taken to an ambulance for treatment of his bite wound, admitted knowledge of an outstanding warrant for carrying concealed weapons and ownership of the firearm found in the vehicle. Greathouse denied knowledge of the firearm and provided a DNA sample voluntarily. Hall confessed to possessing the firearm due to threats against him but denied previous use. He was found to have multiple warrants and was transported for processing. Hall received citations for the window tint violation and driving under suspension, while Greathouse was issued a summons for his offenses and warrant. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
