Jacquelyn Campbell: Twenty-five Years of Research and Advocacy to Reduce Homicide of Women by Partners: Tragically, It Hasn’t Worked About the keynote: Jacquelyn Campbell, PhD, RN is a Professor in the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She has published more than 300 articles, seven books and been Principle Investigator of more than 15 major NIH, CDC and NIJ grants in her decades of advocacy policy work collaborating with domestic violence survivors, advocates, health care professionals and marginalized communities. She is particularly known for her research on domestic violence homicide and the development and validation of the Danger Assessment (DA) that helps IPV survivors more accurately assess their risk of being killed or almost killed by their abusive partner that is used widely in the US and globally. Her research identified gun ownership by the domestic violence perpetrator as one of the strongest risk factors for Intimate Partner Homicide. She is also known for her mentorship of Junior Scholars. As an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, the American Academy of Nursing, the Board of Futures Without Violence and the boards of 4 domestic violence shelters, she has provided consultation for DHHS, CDC, NIH, WHO, the Office on Violence Against Women, the Department of Defense and multiple advocacy organizations on the intersection of gender-based violence and physical and mental health outcomes including gun injury. About the Firearm Injury Prevention Research in Nursing (FIPRN) Scholars Program: The FIPRN Scholars Program is a 12-week hybrid training initiative that prepares researchers in nursing and allied health fields to lead innovative, community‑engaged work in firearm injury prevention. Hosted by the University of Colorado Anschutz in Aurora, Colorado, the program focuses on strengthening participants’ research capacity while fostering meaningful collaboration across disciplines and communities. Through this experience, scholars develop cutting‑edge research skills, engage with diverse partners, and contribute to a growing national network of nursing investigators dedicated to advancing evidence‑based strategies in firearm injury prevention. The FIPRN Program is co-hosted by the CU Anschutz Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative, the CU Anschutz School of Nursing, and the CU Anschutz Injury and Violence Prevention Center.
