Testing a curbed Friedrich 6,000 BTU slide-out air conditioner model CP06G10. I suspect this was tossed because it kept short-cycling, as the thermostat probe was pushed out of place and up against the coil. I had absolutely no intention of wasting the storage space on this thing, but I surprisingly like it. It's exceptionally quiet. I like the side discharge design as it throws air far into the room and results in a more even temperature. It needs a good cleaning, but has minimal rust and appears to have a full charge still. It's a newer machine as it utilizes the R410 refrigerant, but it must be considerably older than I thought as it is discontinued and sold out of everywhere I looked. I was able to find a few sites that still listed a retail price, they were all between $300 and $375, so this was not a cheap machine. This is an excellent example of why it's so valuable to at least have a basic understanding of how all the equipment in the house operates. Very simple troubleshooting would have saved the prior owner a few hundred dollars.
