They've been in a variety of wars including, Seven Years' War, the Napoleonic Wars, the Crimean War, World War I and World War II, Falklands War, the Gulf War, the Bosnian War, the Kosovo War, the Sierra Leone Civil War, the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan. They're an elite amphibious force that can operate in every environment and climate around the globe. Today the Royal Marines focus on Counter-Terrorism in the Middle East and domestically. In 2019 the Royal Marine's role started to change back to its original commando role conducting small-scale raids and supporting British Special Forces around the world.
