This is the scrapbook of Clarence "Buddy" Holmes of the 507th Parachute Infantry. It mostly contains papers from his service during WW2, where he fought at Normandy, Bastogne and the capture of Germany. Shortly after Normandy, on June 13, 1944, while fighting near La Bonneville, France, he received a Bronze star and apparently earned a Silver Star sometime afterward, but I can't confirm that for sure. He was also wounded in action on January 26, 1945. For a reason unknown to me, he dropped his rank from SGT to PVT, possibly in order to go back overseas. Inside the scrapbook, among other things are some captured German photographs depicting German soldiers and parades/rallies. There is also a German identification booklet for a civilian. In a newspaper clipping, "Buddy" can be seen on the far right as a Nazi official was captured in his pajamas. There are also two photographs (likely copies), that show two dead German soldiers, one being particularly gruesome. There was also a rare piece of German propaganda dropped to Allied soldiers attempting to convince them to surrender and also a sheet of paper addressed to "You Boys of Bastogne." Additionally, there are a few papers that were sent by the Americans to the Germans to try and make them surrender.
