Our March 2023 Artist-In-Studio Resident Nathaniel Ruleaux @nathanielruleaux gives us insights into the development of his event “To See If I Could Go Home: A True History Paste Up” This project invited the public to engage with sobering facts about the history of Indian Boarding Schools in the United States while learning to wheat paste together. The Paste Up sought to heal through art, community engagement, and education, while tackling issues of immense weight. For more on Boarding School history and healing, follow and support The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition @nabshc Our Artist-In-Studio program is generously funded by @midamericaartsalliance, @neaarts, and the state arts agencies of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. The Union for Contemporary Art strengthens the cultural and social landscape of our community by using the arts as a vehicle to inspire positive social change.
