NEW Technique-Specific Shaker Rod These days, there is arguably no “hotter” technique in bass fishing than shaking a minnow. This technique mimics the erratic action of a wounded minnow, impersonating the easiest of targets to trigger a bite in even the most lethargic bass. In other words, this technique is lethal. So, if you’re having trouble with it, it might just be your rod. That’s why 13 Fishing has created the new Shaker Rod, designed specifically for shaking a minnow. “When it comes to shaking a minnow, there are many different variations of jig heads and sizes of minnows, but what is most important is selecting the right rod,” said Ricky Teschendorf, Head of Product Development for 13 Fishing Rods. “What we’ve done at 13 Fishing is we’ve tailored two separate series, Oath and Myth, for the technique.” The rod’s technique-specific construction boasts a super-responsive and bouncy tip, plus a midsection built to absorb the force of an adrenaline-fueled bass swimming with all its might. Paired with a VMC Minnow Shaker Jig and a CrushCity™ Mooch Minnow or Freeloader™, you’ll be unstoppable. “The bouncy tip is what imparts the side-to-side rolling action that you need,” said Teschendorf. “Once you have these fish hooked and they are making long aggressive runs along the side of the boat, you want that midsection to absorb that head-shake or that big run.” The Shaker Rod comes in the Oath and the Myth Series in sizes 7’2” and 6’9”. The 7’2” model is optimal for larger minnows, imparts medium light magnum power, has a line rating of 6 lb to 12 lb, and a lure rating of 3/16 oz to 3/4 oz. The 6’9” model is optimal for smaller minnows, imparts medium light power, has a line rating of 4 lbs to 10 lbs, and a lure rating of 1/16 oz to 1/2 oz.
