How Compressed Air Oil Coalescing & Activated Carbon Filters Work

Air compressor filters work to remove liquids, moisture, particulate, and odors from the air supply. Coalescing filters take air in and then push it outward through the coalescing element to capture oils, oil aerosols, and particulate. These contaminants are then removed through the float drain at the bottom of the filter. Activated carbon air filters, or charcoal filters, flows opposite of the oil coalescing filters. Air is taken in from the outside and pushed inward and then downstream. Both of these filter elements are required to be serviced and replaced every 6 months.
