Cecil Scott, cl and saxes (t, bar, bs) player born in Springfield, Ohio, in 1905, began his career together with his brother Lloyd, drummer, in Springfield in early 1920s as Scott’s Symphonic Syncopators, competing with Milt Senior’s Synco Jazz Band, then evolved into McKinney's Cotton Pickers. In 1920s Cecil and Lloyd continued to play together in Pittsburg and then in New York as Lloyd Scott and His Dance Orchestra (at Savoy Ball Room) and as Cecil Scott and His Bright Boys, band in which also Dicky Wells, Frankie Newton, Roy Eldridge, Johnny Hodges featured. In New York Cecil with Lloyd also recorded as Lloyd Scott's Orchestra (1927) and as Cecil Scott and His Bright Boys (1929), featuring in the first Dicky Wells, tb, and in the second Bill Coleman, t / Frank Newton, t / Dicky Wells, tb. In late 1930s Cecil Scott played as sideman in some swing Bands, in 1940s in some revival jazz bands and in 1950s and early 1960s in others groups. He died in New York in 1964.
