Welcome to the town split by the Canada/U.S.A. Canusa Street is the only part of the United States-Canada border that runs down the middle of a street. This Bizarre border separates Beebe Plain, Vermont, from Stanstead, Quebec. Join Alice and Tommy T as they show you Canusa Street and the only International Library split between two countries. On the current cadastral graphic matrix however, the border line is drawn along the southern border to the street, suggesting that it is entirely located within Canada. At the west end of Canusa Street is the Beebe Plain–Beebe Border Crossing. Immediately facing the customs houses, located at the end of the street, is a solid granite line house. This building (built as a store in the 1820s) was for a time the world's only international post office. It had one postmaster, but two doors and two postal counters, each serving customers from a different country. A line house is a building located so that an international boundary passes through it. There are several such buildings that exist along the U.S.–Canada border like the Haskell Free Library and Opera House straddles the border in Derby Line, Vermont, and Stanstead, Quebec. In addition, several private homes divided between Beebe Plain, Quebec and Beebe Plain, Vermont LIKE/SHARE/SUBSCRIBE www.HowToHaveFunOutdoors.com © How To Have Fun Outdoors. All Rights Reserved.
