I used to call Portland, Oregon home, and seeing so many familiar faces and friends fill a room where I’ve had the privilege of playing a few times - including my dad the great David Grisman and Danny Barnes , was a heartwarming treat I won’t soon forget. This was an incredibly special run through the Pacific Northwest with some of my favorite people, and our show last Saturday in PDX seemed to be the perfect way to bring us home. The timelessly talented Logan Ledger treated us to a transcendent “Loser” , my favorite banjo wizard Victor Furtado, delivered a “John Henry” for the ages, the great Max Flansburg led us through our very first “Terrapin Station” (one of my absolute favorite Jerry Larrys - I mean, C’mon!), our vibe guardian Chris "Hollywood" English lit up the room with an overabundance of joy during “I’ve Got A Feeling” - and all the while, our dear John Mailander enveloped us in a warm blanket of tasteful virtuosity with his fiddle. Thanks for being you, Portland, and thanks for opening your hearts and ears for us.
