廣州都城隍廟始建於明洪武三年(1370 年),初為廣州府城隍廟,清雍正年間升格為管轄全省的都城隍廟,是明清時期嶺南地區規模最大的城隍廟。現存建築為清代風格,僅存大殿與拜亭,1993 年列為廣州市文物保護單位,2010 年修繕後免費開放。廟內融合木雕、磚雕、灰塑等嶺南工藝精髓,如意斗拱牌樓、八米高《開天闢地神仙卷》壁畫尤為矚目。主神為南漢國主劉龑,左右分列清官海瑞與抗倭名臣楊椒山,體現「護國庇民」的城隍文化內涵。作為廣府文化重要載體,其楹聯與祭祀傳統蘊含「勸善懲惡」的民間信仰,現與北京路商圈、南越王宮博物館共同構成廣州歷史文化地標群。 The Guangzhou Metropolitan City God Temple was first built in 1370 during the third year of the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. Initially, it was the City God Temple of Guangzhou Prefecture. During the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, it was upgraded to a metropolitan city god temple governing the entire province. It was the largest city god temple in Lingnan region during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The existing buildings are in Qing Dynasty style, with only the main hall and worship pavilion remaining. In 1993, it was listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangzhou. After renovation in 2010, it was opened to the public for free. The temple integrates the essence of Lingnan crafts such as wood carving, brick carving, and lime sculpture. The Ruyi dougong archway and the eight-meter-high "The Immortal Scroll of Creating the World" mural are particularly eye-catching. The main deity is Liu Yan, the lord of the Southern Han Kingdom. On the left and right are the upright official Hai Rui and Yang Jiao Mountain, a famous anti-Japanese official, reflecting the cultural connotation of "protecting the country and the people" of the city god. As an important carrier of Cantonese culture, its couplets and sacrificial traditions contain the folk belief of "encouraging good and punishing evil". Now, together with the Beijing Road business district and the Nanyue King Palace Museum, it forms a group of historical and cultural landmarks in Guangzhou.
