OPERATIONS RESEARCH Transportation Problems/Models: Part 1 In this part students will learn about the basics of transportation problems, definition of transportation problem/model, various terms used in transportation problems and methodology used in transportation problems. In part 2, Linear Programming (LP) Model of Transportation problem has been formulated for better understanding of transportation problem as an application of linear programming problem. In part 3, methodology or step-by-step procedure of finding solution to transportation problems has been discussed in detail. In part 4, methods of finding Initial Basic Feasible Solution (I.B.F.S.) to transportation problem such as North West Corner Method, Row Minima Method, Column Minima Method, Least Cost Method and Vogel's Approximation Method (VAM) has been discussed in detail. In part 5, North West Least Cost Method (LCM) of finding initial basic feasible solution to transportation problem has been discussed in detail. In part 6, Least Cost Method (LCM) of finding initial basic feasible solution to transportation problem has been discussed in detail. In part 7, VAM method of finding initial basic feasible solution to transportation problem has been discussed in detail. In part 8, Vogel's Approximation method has been applied on Balanced Transportation Problem for finding initial basic feasible solution.
