Good vs. Evil: Today’s modern state Just as the Holy Fathers have guarded Holy Tradition and our Orthodox Christian Faith over the centuries, so in like manner, vile and evil people have kept old pagan traditions and demonic rituals to this day. In recent news, we have heard of a certain person who orchestrated a perverted island and now it has been revealed that a bunch of world figures, political, Hollywood actors and many other such rich and well known people have participated on that island. This island not only used children as young lustful slaves but a much more darker and sinister event was taking place. Young children were being sacrificed, and drinking their blood as a source of adrenochrome, a belief that it holds the promise of immortality… The Lord in the Old Testament had warned about this: “And thou shalt not let any of thy seed (children) pass through the fire (sacrificed) to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 18:21) “And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed (sacrifice their children) unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones. And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people.” (Leviticus 20:1-3) Molech (Moloch) was depicted as a human body with a bull’s head. His statue was usually made of bronze with arms outstretched and a belly that opened to serve as a furnace. A particularly disturbing practice of Molech worship was infant or child sacrifice. Families allowed children to “pass through the fire” or be burned alive to Molech to secure favour and prosperity. Sacrificing children or infants in exchange for a favour is antithetical to God’s nature, and He condemns the practice in the strongest terms. In the Old Testament, Solomon compromised his heart for God by yielding to his wives and erecting places of worship for Molech and Chemosh. “And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father. Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.” (1 Kings 11:6-8) Our Loving God loves life and protects life. These idolaters not only practiced child sacrifice; they also engaged in various temple prostitution and perversions. All these practices contributes to a culture of death while God leads Christians into a culture that respects life. During the reign of King Josiah, he sought to reform Israel and return the people to devotion to God by destroying the places, especially in Topheth, where child sacrifice had been practiced. (2 Kings 23:10) When Jeremiah prophesied the fall of Jerusalem to the Chaldeans, he reported that God was allowing this fall to happen: “And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.” (Jeremiah 32:35) The primary idols of surrounding tribes in the Old Testament were Baal, Ashtoreth, and Molech. Molech is an epithet for Baal, which the Israelites had also fallen with idol worship and infant/child sacrifice. “And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom; also he observed times (fortune-telling), and used enchantments (sorcery), and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit (mediums), and with wizards (necromancers); he wrought much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.” (2 Chronicles 33:6) The Lord warned people not to do this; “There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord…” (Deuteronomy 18:10-12) “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God…” (Exodus 20:3-6) “Give no regard to mediums and necromancers (familiar spirits/spiritists); do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.” (Leviticus 19:31) Reached capacity:
