Improving Boston Traffic with Google’s Project Green Light 🟢

🟢 We’re helping get people where they’re going faster all across Boston with Google’s Project Green Light. Project Green Light uses artificial intelligence and Google Maps driving trends to model traffic patterns and help our teams optimize road traffic flow. Since 2024, our Department of Innovation and Technology and Streets Cabinet have implemented changes in almost every neighborhood in Boston, helping us improve over 100 intersections. These optimizations do more than just improve commutes, they’re saving Boston drivers an average of nearly 4,000 gallons of gas per intersection over the course of the year, and helping reduce carbon emissions.
