British sprint prospect Divine Iheme delivers another historic performance at the England Athletics U15/U17/U20 Indoor Championships 2026, running 6.68 seconds to win the U17 men’s 60 metres final. The time sets new British and European under-18 indoor records, confirming his place among the fastest junior sprinters in history. Earlier in the day, Iheme opened with 6.79 in the heats before matching his personal best of 6.71 in the semi-final. He then improved again when it mattered most, producing 6.68 in the final to secure the title and rewrite the record books. At just 16 years old, Iheme already owns multiple age-group records. During the 2025 season, he emerged as one of the fastest fifteen-year-olds ever recorded, breaking the world under-15 indoor 60m record twice and earning the nickname “Lightning” for his acceleration and drive phase. Outdoors, he has run 10.29 for 100 metres, the second-fastest under-17 time ever by a British athlete. With continued technical refinement, particularly through the start and early drive phase, his trajectory places him firmly among the most advanced sprint prospects currently competing in the UK junior system.
