کوه اژدها در محدوده‌ی استان سمنان و شهرستان گرمسار واقع شده است. کوه اژدها جزو نادرترین و کم نظیرترین پدیده‌های زمین شناسی ایران محسوب می‌شود. بر روی کوه نوارهای سرخ، سفید و قهوه‌ای رنگی وجود دارد که به شکل موج خودنمایی می‌کنند. رنگ­های گوناگون این نقش حاصل وجود چندین لایه خاک است که هر کدام دارای عناصر ویژه‌ای هستند و به طور منظمی شکل گرفته‌اند. این ساختار دیدنی از سنگ ماسه، شیل و سنگ جوش تشکیل شده است. نیروها از دو جهت و همزمان وارد شده و باعث ایجاد چین‌ها روی کوه شده است. به این پدیده در علم زمین‌شناسی، چین مرکب می­‌گویند. مردم محلی کوه­ی را که شامل این پدیده‌ی دیدنی است، کوه اژدها می‌نامند که علت این نام گذاری به احتمال زیاد شباهت نوارهای سرخ و قهوه‌ای رنگ به اژدها است. الیته روایت دیگری نیز وجود دارد که گفته می‌شود رستم، قهرمان اساطیری ایران در این محل به همراه رخش با اژدها درگیر شده و آن را نابوده کرده است. طبق این روایت، نقش روی کوه بر اثر پرتاب جسد اژدها توسط رستم بر روی کوه ایجاد شده است The Dragon Mountain is located within the boundaries of Semnan Province and Garmsar County. This fascinating structure is composed of sandstone, shale, and conglomerate rock. Forces applied from two directions simultaneously have caused folds to form on the mountain. In geology, this phenomenon is known as a "composite fold." Local people call this remarkable mountain "Dragon Mountain," likely due to the resemblance of the red and brown bands to a dragon. However, there is also another legend associated with the site. It is said that Rostam, the mythical hero of Iran, fought and defeated a dragon here alongside his horse, Rakhsh.
