Jonghun Kim competed in the men’s masters 100m backstroke (long course), finishing with a time of 1:23.61. Kim maintained a steady stroke rhythm after the start and demonstrated excellent stroke balance throughout the race to finish with composure. The environment was particularly challenging as the water temperature exceeded 29°C, and the depth was limited to approximately 1.3 meters due to the use of floor elevators. Despite these conditions, which were far from ideal for achieving peak performance, the athletes displayed exceptional maturity and sportsmanship, giving their absolute best without complaint. The result was recorded in a certified 50-metre pool and forms part of an ongoing training phase, with Kim continuing to train consistently while working towards gradual improvements in his times. The event featured intense competition as swimmers vied for the chance to represent Gyeonggi-do, alongside masters athletes of all ages pursuing their personal goals. The vivid on-site coverage of this event was made possible through the cooperation of Coach Janghun Ju, a former national swimmer and South Korean national record setter in breaststroke. Currently overseeing the adult masters division of CRS, one of Korea’s premier elite swimming clubs in Apgujeong, Coach Ju is dedicated to developing masters athletes. He continues to support the foundation of Korean masters swimming by personally assisting with filming at various elite and community competitions, including filling in during the Medalbank crew's participation in races.
