For nearly 20 years, award-winning producer Nina Yang Bongiovi has been an influential force in the industry, with a discerning eye for groundbreaking stories and thrilling new directors. She spent the early part of her career co-producing and connecting the US and Chinese film industries. Now, with new and exciting collaborations on the horizon, Yang Bongiovi is working to open the door for a new generation of creators who are telling the stories of our time. In 2009, Yang Bongiovi founded the production company Significant Pictures with Forest Whitaker. After discovering director Ryan Coogler in film school, the company produced Coogler's critically acclaimed Fruitvale Station and has been credited with catapulting the careers of Coogler and Michael B. Jordan. Significant Pictures' impressive slate also includes Dope, Songs My Brothers Taught Me, Roxanne Roxanne, and Boots Riley's box-office breakout Sorry to Bother You. Guest Nina Yang Bongiovi Nina Yang Bongiovi has produced a number of critically acclaimed films, including Fruitvale Station (2013), Dope (2015), Songs My Brothers Taught Me (2015), Roxanne Roxanne (2018), and Sorry To Bother You (2018) with her producing partner, Forest Whitaker, under their banner Significant Productions. Her mission is to create opportunities and inclusivity for storytellers of colour. Guest Kisha Imani Cameron COO, Ghetto Film School Kisha Imani Cameron is the Chief Operation Officer of Ghetto Film School, a nonprofit dedicated to educating and celebrating the next generation of great American storytellers. She holds a BFA in Film Production from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, and has an extensive background in producing and studio development. Cameron has worked at New Line Cinema, Walden Media, and Focus Features, where she also founded and served as Executive Director for the Africa First Short Film Program. Her film credits include associate producer on HBO’s Sometimes in April and Spike Lee's Bamboozled.
