This is a first run of a low time pre-owned Irvine Q40. Made in England to a high standard, it was released the manufacturer in 1992. It was the top grade.40 size engine offered by Irvine at the time. It featured Schneurle porting, ABC metallurgy, a patented "quiet" muffler and special intake and transfer porting to maximise torque at lower RPM's than usual for a glow engine of this displacement. The crankshaft is supported by twin ball races. The Q40 engine was never a huge seller for Irvine. They are now getting hard to find in new or near new condition. Spares are almost impossible to locate as production ceased in the late 1990's when the redesigned unitary red case Irvine Mk. III engines were released. A full report by the late Clarence Lee may be accessed here: http://www.sceptreflight.com/Model%20... The engine has not been adjusted for maximum output and the R/C throttle has not been adjusted for clean pick-up from idle. The engine was tuned for its second run and performed very nicely. Propeller: APC grey composite 11 x 6 Glow Pug: O.S. No. 6 (A3). Fuel Composition: 75% Methyl Alcohol (Methanol), 18% Klotz KL-200, 2% Castor Oil and 5% Nitro Methane.
