In this video, we examine R.A. Vernon’s teaching that giving large amounts of money will lead to personal wealth—and why this message is biblically unsound, spiritually misleading, and practically dangerous for believers. Original video: https://www.youtube.com/live/EHfty7XO... Across much of modern church culture, financial giving has been rebranded as an investment strategy rather than an act of worship. Instead of generosity flowing from gratitude and love, people are encouraged to give “big money” with the promise—or implication—that God is obligated to make them rich in return. This video addresses why that idea is not found in Scripture and why it deeply distorts the gospel. We break down how this teaching subtly (and sometimes explicitly) presents God as transactional: Give more money → unlock wealth → receive prosperity. But the Bible does not teach that generosity functions as a spiritual slot machine. God is not manipulated by dollar amounts, and blessings are not triggered by financial pressure. In the New Testament, believers are never promised riches for giving. Instead, Scripture emphasizes: Giving willingly, not under pressure Giving according to what one has, not what one hopes to get Giving without guarantees of financial return Contentment over wealth Eternal reward, not earthly enrichment When pastors teach that financial breakthroughs are tied to “big seeds,” it creates false expectations and spiritual confusion. People who give sacrificially and remain poor may feel like failures, question their faith, or believe God has rejected them—when in reality, the promise was never biblical to begin with. We also discuss why this teaching is especially harmful to struggling believers. Those living paycheck to paycheck are often encouraged to give beyond their means, believing their sacrifice will unlock prosperity.
