Celibacy is not encouraged in Islam and most of the prophets and prominent Muslim figures were married. We, as Muslims, believe that marriage is a gift from God and a form of worship and thus it became a sunnah of our beloved Prophet (pbuh) who said: “Marriage is part of my Sunnah. Whoever does not act upon my Sunnah is not part of me. Give each other in marriage, for I will boast of your great numbers before the nations. Whoever has the means, let him contract a marriage. Whoever does not have the means should fast, as fasting will restrain his sexual impulses.” It is in our human nature to seek love, intimacy and companionship from the opposite gender. However, it has become increasingly difficult for empaths to find like-minded people to marry, due to the sharp rise in narcissism among Muslims, which causes many to fall into long-term celibacy that has its issues, such as depression, not having the support needed to get through life’s challenges, excessive worrying about one's biological clock and sexual frustration. While Islam doesn’t encourage celibacy, it also doesn’t encourage marrying just “anyone” for the sake of being married and having children, and certainly not someone who is a walking red flag. So, most empaths are not choosing to be celibate, but rather find themselves in a difficult hardship, as they choose to avoid unlawful relationships to please God, but are having to go without a partner for long periods of time. Empaths also face the problem of not wanting to delay marriage if they find someone suitable, only to be accused of being narcissists who have a hidden agenda or “showing red flags” by “rushing” marriage, despite the fact they are in their 30s and 40s, months have passed in the talking/meeting stage and they want to make a relationship halal. This often leads to the breakdown of a relationship when someone “freaks out” and runs. So what are empaths to do? And why has God kept them single? Listen to the full podcast to find out.
