Fortunately I managed to recover the Sigma 150mm-600mm from the broken DSLR and reuse it on the new Nikon Z6 II. What a relief. Hummingbirds were the highlight of July. Towards the end of August, the alligator nests started hatching so there were baby alligators and protective mothers everywhere. It was sweaty business waiting for those nests to open, but it was worth it. The Nikon Z6 II is a powerful little box, but it throws the user into a complicated menu system. Oh the frustration of being spoiled for choice! Setting up custom buttons is essential, but that takes an investment in experimentation to make it worthwhile. On the positive side, it is much better at tracking birds in flight than the DSLR and the frame rate is higher at 60fps in 4K. So....now I have to wait for the return of the Northern Harriers and the Ospreys and attempt to film them again ...in slow motion. Thanks for watching and let's see what September brings.
