What your looking at here is ... a pan of concentrates that has just come out of the Gold Hog Multi Sluice, which is one of our primary clean up sluices ... and so what the Gold Hog Multi-Sluice has just finished doing is; reducing our aprox. 80 pounds of highbanker concentrates down to a very small concentrated amount that weighs just aprox. 90 grams (which is what your looking at here in the pan) ... so this 90 grams of material, now represents at concentration ratio of our work to aprox. a 42,000-to-1 ratio ... this is calculated by taking the aprox. 8,400 lbs of gravel we washed by hand in the field ... and dividing that 8,400 pounds by this 90 grams of concentrate here in the pan - that math now shows these concentrates represent an aprox. 42,000-to-1 ratio ... so, we've now reduced our 8,400 pounds of gravel washing down to just the last or heaviest aprox. 90 grams of material ... so now that we have just a very very small amount of black sand in the four gold concentrates, we can now begin the hand panning stage to separate the small amount of remaining black sand from the flour gold.
