This book is one of the most popular ways to start learning Japanese, and it’s also the one I started with. But why is this book recommended so much, and is it a good fit for you? In this video, I’ll do a deep dive into the book, tell you what you can get from it, as well as my opinion. In the end of the video, I'll tell you how I would use the book if I were to start all over again. The reason Genki has become so popular is that it provides readers with a good foundation in listening, reading, speaking and writing, if you use the book as intended. This will of course only be a foundation, so you will by no means be fluent when you complete the book. But, you will have a good understand of how the language works, and with a push in the right direction, as well as a guide of resources to make use of, you will be on your way to fluency.
