The 1987 Rip Curl Easter Surf Classic at Bells Beach, Australia, was underway, and the good folks at Rip Curl organized The Super Sessions before and during the contest at various locations. The Rip Curl Surf Team went off, and Victoria filmmaker Peter Kirkhouse was there to document the surfing on his trusty 8mm film camera. Featured Surfers: Tom Curren, Damien Hardman, Nicky Wood, Pam Burridge, Cheyne Horan, Stewart Bedford-Brown, Simon Law, Craig "Scat" Pitchers, Wes Laine, Wayne "Rabbit" Bartholomew, John Shimooka, Brad Gerlach, Bryce Ellis and Matt Archbold. The Godson of Mark Richards, Nicky Wood, won the 1987 Bells Beach Classic at only 16 years old. He came in as a rip Curl wild card and was riding a 5'7" Gunther Rohn channel bottom.
