As a boy, Thomas was very curious and constantly asked questions because he wanted to understand how everything worked. He attended school but faced problems because his teachers considered him a difficult and slow child who did not learn like the other students. After only a few months, his mother, who was a teacher and believed in her smart and special son, took him out of school to teach him at home. This arrangement was wonderful for Thomas, allowing him to learn at his own pace about subjects he loved, such as science and history. His mother encouraged his curiosity, and he loved to do experiments, setting up a small laboratory in his family's basement. His family supported him even when his experiments created a mess or a strange smell. Transition to Invention Thomas began working as he grew up, selling newspapers on a train. He even set up a laboratory in a small, empty car on the train because he was always thinking and creating. Thomas Edison decided to become a full-time inventor, working extremely hard, often all day and all night. He believed that hard work was more important than just having a good idea, stating, "Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration". Inventing the Electric Light Bulb One of his most famous goals was to create a light that was both safe and cheap, contrasting with the dangerous candles or gas lamps used at the time. He aimed to create an electric light bulb, but this was difficult, leading to many failed attempts. He tried hundreds of materials, including different types of paper, metal, and even bamboo, for the part of the bulb that glows. People started to lose hope, laughed at him, and told him to stop because they thought it was impossible and he was wasting his time. Thomas Edison did not give up and responded to questions about his many failures with the wonderful answer: "I have not failed. [I've] just found 10,000 ways that won't work". He saw every failure as a lesson that taught him what not to do, bringing him one step closer to success. He and his dedicated team worked tirelessly, testing and retesting every idea. Finally, after thousands of tries, they found a material that worked: a piece of carbonized bamboo thread. When they turned on the electricity, the bulb glowed and stayed lit for hours. On New Year's Eve in 1879, Thomas Edison revealed his invention to the world by lighting up the streets around his laboratory with the new electric light bulbs. The electric light bulb was a revolution, changing the world forever by providing bright, safe light for homes, making cities safer, and allowing factories to operate longer hours. Later Inventions and Legacy Edison became famous and wealthy but continued inventing. He created the phonograph to record and play back sound, improved the telephone, and worked on a camera for moving pictures, which led to modern movies. In his lifetime, he received more than 1,000 patents for inventions that helped the world by making life easier and more enjoyable. He also built power plants to bring electricity to cities. Thomas Edison is described as not just an inventor but a visionary who shaped the modern world. The Moral of the Story His story is a powerful reminder that failure is a necessary part of success and that we learn from our mistakes. The most important lesson is to never give up on your dreams. Edison's life shows that with persistence and a positive attitude, anything is possible. #learnenglish #englishstory #englishlistening #englishpractice #englishforbeginners ,#englishskills ,#beginnerenglish ,#englishlearning , #englishstories ,#englishspeaking ,#accenttraining ,#spokenenglish, #englishfluency, #englishpronunciation ,#gradedreader ,#speakenglish, #dailyenglish ,#easyenglish ,#a2english ,#listeningpractice, #schoolenglish, #familyenglish ,#motheranddaughter, #slowenglishstory ,#englishforbeginners, #a2b1english, #slowenglish ,#learnenglishslowly ,#englishwithstories, #moralstories
