In today's devotion, Brother Aaron teaches about the importance of taking charge of our life circumstances in order to set the tone and direction of our lives. Former Chrysler chairman and CEO Lee Iacocca was speaking about managers when he said, “Sometimes even the best manager is like the little boy with the big dog, waiting to see where the dog wants to go… so he can take him there.” I perceive that in the world of Christianity, many of us are exactly as Mr. Iacocca said. The only difference is the names of our “big dogs.” The little boy probably called his big dog Rover or Spot. Our “big dogs” have names like: “Church,” “Family,” Career,” “Health,” “Life,” and “Circumstances.” However, regardless of the name, the truth is that many of us are waiting to see where our “big dog” wants to go… so we can lead him there. As I have read and studied the Bible, I find that Jesus was exactly the opposite of what I have just described. He never allowed life to lead Him. He never allowed circumstances to dictate His course of action. He always led the “big dogs” of His life where He wanted them to go. He never allowed them to lead Him.
