German police raided the country's largest group of neo-Nazi's in a attempt to end their violent anti-immigrant course. Police searched 30 premises in a nine state stretch, Their target was a group of about 600 members that focuses on supporting neo-Nazi members during their imprisonment. This group was founded in 1979, neo-Nazis and "violent subculture of rightwing extremists" are all included. In a statement from Berlin Deputy Interior Minister Klaus-Dieter Fritsche said: "Imprisoned comrades are not only kept within the group while in jail, but also encouraged to 'fight on against the system.'" Germany has grappled with the proliferation of anti- immigrant and extremist groups, underscored by state election victories of the National Democratic Party of Germany. Germany's population is about 82 million. The number of neo-Nazis climbed more than 4 percent to about 5,000 people last year. Raids are taking place today in states such as Berlin, North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria. The ministry has not given details about the size of the operation.
