Gerald Shaw BBC Organ Broadcast From 1964. From the Odeon Leicester Square. Gerald Shaw plays a London theme broadcast here from way back in 1964 in the old BBC Light Programme days. This was broadcast on the 11th of August 1964. It was very interesting to note that Gerald Shaw admitted he did not like living in London. He had played on the Regal Marble Arch Chrisite organ then moved to the Odeon cinema Leicester Square so for many years had been a resident cinema organist in the heart of London. I think this was an excellent well thought out broadcast and came across well on the Odeon 5 manual 17 Rank + Melotone Compton organ. Again, please note this was taken from a shed stored reel to reel mono tape recording made off the radio way back in 1964, so sadly, the quality is not up to what we may expect these days. I think Gerald Shaw was such a fine organist and musician, and he really knew his way around the might Compton organ, which has the nickname of the Duchess.
