Community Voices Speak Loud at NBN Mayoral Forum 2025! At the NBN Mayoral Forum for Detroit’s 2025 election, community voices rang clear on the urgent needs of our neighborhoods. Thomaesa Bailey captured powerful interviews with Shanelle Johnson, Theresa Landrum, Eric Brown, Aźia Harris-Martin, and William Davis. From broken promises in Southwest Detroit to rising property taxes and underfunded schools, voters are seeking real plans and real leadership. Theresa Landrum added, “I’ve lived [in Southwest Detroit] more than 60 years… we haven’t seen economic development. Todd Perkins fits what my community needs.” Aźia Harris-Martin spoke as a millennial homebuyer: “The property taxes have become so insurmountable. I don’t know if I can stay in Detroit much longer.” William Davis stated clearly, “City of Detroit retirees is my main issue, and I’m still waiting for a stronger candidate.” Candidates Jonathan Barlow, James Craig, Fred Durhal III, Joel Haashim, Saunteel Jenkins, Todd Perkins, Mary Sheffield, and DaNetta Simpson took the stage, moderated by Karen Dumas, Charlie LeDuff, and David Dickson at WCCCD Northwest Campus. The people are watching—and speaking. #DetroitVotes #NBNForum2025 #DetroitMayoralRace #CommunityVoices #DetroitPolitics #SouthwestDetroit #BlackDetroit #EducationEquity #DetroitTaxes #RetireesMatter #DetroitHomeowners #DetroitYouth #DetroitFuture #DetroitIsDifferent #VoiceOfThePeople #shorts
