From good bits under the bonnet, to a solid axle swap in a weekend, this home built Lux is ready for anything it’s pointed at! John Duckworth from Townsville is well known in the HiLux community and it’s no surprise as to why. In 2011 John bought his 2002 HiLux stock as rock, and thanks to the skills learnt as a diesel fitter, he’s been able to turn the Lux into an absolute track-eater. “I wanted something that would make a good daily driver, but be a good capable tourer that’s well setup for camping,” says John. From the custom built tray, to a solid axle swap in a long weekend, John’s saved huge coin doing the whole build himself. There’s no doubt about it, that there’s no other Lux out there like this one! In fact, John even took off straight up to the Cape just after finishing his bonnet, snorkel and fixing some fuel issues.
