On this clip from our episode 56 with the Co-Founder of Budist Jocelyn Sheltraw we discuss the history of wine consumption! She explains how it wasn't until the late 1970s and 1980s that a passionate lawyer from Philadelphia, Robert Parker, started documenting his wine tasting notes and created a standardized 100-point rating system. This allowed consumers to better understand the differences between various wine products. Prior to this, the wine industry itself was the main source of this type of connoisseurship, which was not widely known to the general public. The 100-point system and Parker's Wine Advocate publication helped bring this expertise to the masses, leading to the rise of other wine critics and the sommelier program.
