In Northeast Ohio sits one of the most talked-about abandoned homes. Built in 1930 spanning over 6,000 square feet, this stone and brick residence once stood as an impressive example of early 20th-century craftsmanship. Public records show the home was owned from 1980 until 2024 by Bruce Schirhart, a registered nurse and local business owner known for operating a nursing home located across the street. After his passing around 2020, the property fell into disuse as the estate faced legal and tax matters. In late 2024, the home was sold at sheriff’s sale and transferred to a company name, but it remains vacant today. Over the years, the property has become the subject of heavy speculation online. Stories that circulate across Facebook and other various local forums include rumors of a hanging inside the home, although none of those stories have been confirmed. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to venture through the decaying halls and rooms left frozen in time, slowly being reclaimed by nature. I decided to explore the property again at midnight, and included footage of the basement which was easily one of the most unsettling parts of the home.
