Building a meaningful career used to be about pursuing a “Career Path”, following a singular pursuit and climbing the ladder in one direction, but an alternative approach is emerging and entering its prime time to become the future of work. Harvard Business School graduate, Max Pakapol, unveils the concept of a “Portfolio Career” where one is not bound by a single career but can pursue multiple jobs simultaneously. He discusses its various benefits and introduces a 5-step approach anyone can use to build and manage one’s own Portfolio Career. Max Pakapol is currently a Senior Product Manager at Amazon (Seattle, USA), overseeing the development of AI and Machine Learning services. He started out his career by landing a high-flying Management Consulting job at Bain & Company but his varied interests led him to pursue multiple roles beyond his full-time job. He ended up developing a “Portfolio Career”, now spanning Product Manager, Career Advisor, Executive Trainer, Social Activist, Content Creator, Writer, Speaker, University Lecturer, Investor, and Dog Sitter.
