Halo 3 and its story of Master Chief and Cortana finally settling their score with both the covenant and the flood was met with critical acclaim - except for one level. Despite glowing reviews, Cortana, the level some consider to be a pseudo-sequel to Halo Combat Evolved mission The Library, was almost universally panned by all who played it due to its frustrating gameplay, repetitive visuals and confusing level design. And, I mostly agree with them. In this video, I take a closer look at the game design behind one of Halo's most infamous missions to try and pinpoint why exactly it was so poorly received, examining everything from its gameplay and graphics to story and level design.
