Late CARNAGE In Championship Opener | Birmingham City 1-1 Ipswich Town

Birmingham City draw 1-1 in their opening game of the 2025/26 Championship season against recently relegated Ipswich Town. It was an extraordinary night and the atmosphere around the ground was rocking from the very start. Chris Davies' side took the lead 10 minutes after the break through talisman Jay Stansfield who put in the rebound after new man Kyogo was denied by the post. Blues seemed to be on their way to an opening day victory but were cruelly pulled level after the referee spotted a handball in the build-up. Very few people in the crowd or on the pitch noticed but George Hirst couldn't care as he slotted home a last gasp equaliser. Tempers flared after the goal went in after Conor Chaplin booted the ball back into the Tilton which saw the Blues players crowd round him. A real kick in the teeth to what should've been a winning start to the campaign but we can take real positives from our performance.
