Tuesday marks a milestone at NBC 10. It is Patrice Wood's 45th anniversary. Where to begin? Patrice is a legend. Southern New England claims her as our own, even though she's "only" been with us for 45 years. She's from Ohio, a midwestern farm girl who earned her journalism degree from Bowling Green State University. Patrice worked in newsrooms in Bowling Green and Toledo, Ohio, before making her way to WJAR on Feb. 4, 1980. Like many of us, she started out as a general assignment reporter, covering whatever was needed any given day, from breaking news and breaking weather to some of the biggest stories of the day. She worked her way up from the field to the anchor desk. In September 1987, she helped to debut our 5:30 p.m. newscast. Along the way, Patrice made a name for herself as a strong interviewer, who made even the biggest names around, comfortable enough to say almost anything.
