Since June 2024 when the Supreme Court in the U.S. ruled that local ordinances banning public camping do not violate the Eighth Amendment's "cruel and unusual punishment" clause*, cities across the country have begun to call outdoor camping illegal. This essentially makes homelessness illegal in those cities. We untangle this issue.
