National Guard presence strengthens during 2nd week of Trump's DC takeover

The White House confirmed that National Guard reinforcements from three states have now joined the mission to combat crime in Washington. It comes after a U.S. Park Police officer was assaulted while directing traffic at the National Mall on Saturday, and an ICE officer suffered a bloody head injury and concussion during an arrest. These incidents have prompted federal officials to consider whether National Guard members patrolling the streets of D.C. should soon be armed.
