Rhiannon is a major figure in the Mabinogi/Mabinogion, the medieval Welsh story collection. And connected to horses, the moon, and nighttime. Her stories are many and varied, but in this journey, she will act as kindly support as we settle into rest and the quietness of the night. This video features no visuals, so feel free to close your eyes to listen! it also features some quiet time for your own peaceful reflections. This meditation is part of a series I created for Insight Timer called Guided by Goddesses - if you are interested in taking the full journey, you can do so here: https://insig.ht/uRh1B946kwb?utm_sour... Branwen, Rhiannon, Arianrhod, and Blodeuwedd (who make up the four 'Celtic Goddesses' I have used in this series) are characters in the Mabinogion, a collection of tales taken from the four ancient books of Wales that tell the stories of characters that would later become foundations for stories of Celtic Gods and Goddesses. Their stories are complex and varied, barely touched on in these meditations - so I do encourage you to read more! It is a complex thing to make uplifting meditation from challenging stories, I am not trying to retell the trials that the likes of Branwen and Rhiannon go through, but I am picking out some hopeful elements of their lore in order to create these meditations. Branwen, Rhiannon, Arianrhod, and Blodeuwedd might also be called Brythonic deities - the Brythonic peoples, descendants of the Celtic Britons, inhabited western Britain (mainly Wales, Cumbria and Cornwall) and Brittany.
