Spring flipper for ant weight class combat robots
This is a demo of a spring powered flipper I've been working on. This version is suitable for 1 lb ant weight robots. It uses a 154:1 gear motor I bought from Pololu that runs about 180 rpm at 12 volts. It's geared down and additional 3:1 to tension the springs. A detent and microswitch automatically stop the motor at the correct time. Flipping is triggered by briefly bridging the auto-stop microswitch to run the motor forcing the winder to go "over the top" and into freewheeling mode releasing all the spring energy.
