The morning started off just like any other Snider Sunday, but we quickly heard that CN 107 had derailed at Doncaster. The culprit was a 3 pack intermodal well car which separated. As a result, the west track of the Bala Sub at Doncaster was damaged and engines intended to run trains out of Mac Yard were instead redirected to rescue the tail end of 107's train from behind the derailment. Since the east track of the Bala Sub was not impacted, it was possible for VIA 1 to run directly north on the Bala Sub, but this would necessitate turning the train around to make that possible. The decision to wye the train at Bayview was made, so while VIA 1 headed west, so did we, so that we could catch the eastbound trip along the Oakville Sub. Look closely, as since the passengers had boarded the train already, they were enjoying lunch in the dining cars during their rare trip along the Oakville Sub.
