We watched what was in my opinion the best of the whole thing with Why We Fight to evaluate American propaganda during WWII. It was essentially the apotheosis of the artform, combining numerous previous strains into a revolutionary new form that forever changed cinema and even how we think about WWII. These efforts were the culmination of a decades-long development of the techniques and artistry necessary for good propaganda, and Why We Fight was the very best of that. It shapes the conversation about the causes of WWII with a flourish that imparts its message into the culture as a whole and informs our cinematic language today. ――――――――― Bibliography M.
