After a thorough evaluation at Vejthani Hospital, Dr. Pongsakorn Pongsapas, a neurosurgeon, diagnosed the tumor as Paraganglioma, a carotid body tumor. Given its location near the vital blood vessel supplying the brain, the surgery was deemed high-risk. The surgery was done through an innovative endovascular approach to minimize complications. A minimal catheter was inserted into the tumor's feeding vessel, effectively blocking its blood supply and reducing the risk of bleeding during surgery.
